Hernando de Soto Polar is a Peruvian economist who is known for his work on the importance of business. He aruges that, "for Americans enjoying both peace and prosperity, it has been to easy to ignore the turmoil elsewhere." (5). This quote has a lot of truth to because American's, tend to not get involved in any problems until it is extremely necessarily which it shouldn't always be like that.

Hernando de Soto travels to study the capitals and economy in other countries. He states, "The past is many nations' present.” (20.) What I understood from this quote was that some countries are more further developed than others so since they were more advanced they were more ahead and had a "head start" on many thing as compared to many other countries.
